This Yellow-bellied Sapsucker came by for a visit. They are truly beautiful birds, very fun personalities as well.

While the male Cardinals get all the popularity, I love the low key beauty of the females. This one here I especially admire for hanging on the branch just a little longer so I could snap her picture!

Cold Autumn wind rips through the trees, causing the last of the golden leaves that cling to the branches to let go and take flight, as an orange sunset adds one final burst of beauty to the day. A flock of geese can be heard faintly calling overhead as they drift southward toward the horizon. Each piece of the whole ever-changing, working in unison as it should. In nature everything has a place. There is so much beauty even in cold late Autumn sunsets that the geese that sail on by seem to pause before continuing their long journey south. It is in these moments that peace and tranquillity reign over the chaos.

A few golden leaves cling to the trees,
The sun never quite rises like it once did,
The birds have gotten the call and headed for warmer shores.

The beauty of Summer has faded,
Just like those Summer days did turn into night,
Slowly then all at once.

We are left with what remains,
Waiting for Nature to return again.

And return it shall,
Or perhaps it never leaves,
One cannot forget the vibrant Cardinal,
Or the mighty evergreen.
